Office Tiffin Service in Dubai: What to Expect (and What to Demand)
Subscription tiffin can replace your office hot lunch programme — if the operator gets the logistics right. Here's the buyer's guide.
A growing number of Dubai offices are switching from daily catering to subscription tiffin service. The economics work — the experience doesn’t always. This guide walks through what to expect.
What office tiffin actually is
A subscription model where a caterer delivers sealed, hot tiffin boxes to your office on a fixed schedule — usually 5 days a week, sometimes 6. Pricing is per-box per-month rather than per-event. Best for offices with 10-100 employees on a daily lunch programme.
Why it works for the right offices
- Predictable cost. Monthly invoice, no day-of headcount management.
- No setup overhead. Sealed boxes per person — no buffet, no chafing dishes, no servers.
- Menu variety built in. Good tiffin operators rotate weekly.
- Dietary segmentation easier. Each box is per-person, so individual Jain / Jain Swaminarayan / vegan boxes don’t need separate logistics.
Why it fails when it fails
- Temperature. If boxes arrive lukewarm, the programme fails within two weeks.
- Repetition. Without proper 4-week rotation, staff lose interest.
- Packaging. Leaky boxes destroy desks and reputations.
- Delivery timing. Lunch boxes arriving at 1:15pm for a 12:30 lunch break is unacceptable.
What to ask before signing
- How do you maintain heat in delivery? Insulated transport is non-negotiable for journeys over 20 minutes.
- What’s your typical delivery window? Acceptable: 15 minutes. Anything wider, walk away.
- How often does the menu rotate? 4-week minimum.
- What happens if a delivery is missed? Refund policy, replacement protocol.
- Can we pause / resume? Weekly billing is more flexible than monthly lock-in.
- What’s your Jain / Swaminarayan protocol? Same standard as event catering.
Pricing in 2026
- Trial week — AED 130–180 for 5 days, designed to convert
- Monthly individual — AED 450–550 per person per month
- Family 2-box plan — AED 800–950 per month
- Corporate volume — discounts for 20+ boxes per day
What a good tiffin box looks like
- 2 sabzi (one dry, one gravy)
- 1 dal or kadhi
- Rice (cumin, plain, or pulao)
- 3-4 rotis or 2 parathas
- Salad / kachumber / pickle
- Dessert (1 small portion)
Volume should be honest — enough for a working adult, not a snack.
